Don’t judge this book by it’s strange cover, it is quite funny.
Via Wikipedia I traced it back to ‘”Vice Versa: Clever and witty, the book about the soul switching between an English aristocrat, and a bratty Hollywood child star is something straight out of the movie world it pokes fun at.

I didn’t think about it on the way through, but his characters were strong enough and the humor pithy enough to slide right on past the preposterous plot. He also makes up with Ann, and they are going to be married.

The premise of the book was quite clever and way before, obviously, all the body swap films of the 80’s and 90’s but I have to say that even if those films took the initial idea from Wodehouse they did far more with it. About a small brat kid who changes identities with an adult – and god knows what kind of trouble that causes!
And since the Hollywood till this day makes movies with Caucasian actors portraying Asians aka “yellow-face” don’t be shocked that in this novel there are two blokes using make up to pass off as Japanese and Filipino.

It is now one of my very favorites of Wodehouse. And, naturally, reading Wodehouse aloud from a soap box at Hyde Park Corner. The child film star Joey 12 while still has a childish qualities is often more mature and experienced than Reggie. I usually resort to a Wodehouse book to destress but my heart absolutely went out to poor Reggie and his extreme misadventures! Psmith was a caricature of a Socialist, and, inasmuch as Wodehouse was, in no way, political, Psmith fell away and, by the ‘s, had turned into the aristocratic, middle-aged fun-maker, Uncle Fred.
