I feel I should state three things before starting this review.

The third problem, isn’t so much of problem, but Chloe and Derek seem to be based heavily on Armstrong’s Elena and Clay, almost as if she is playing a what if. While this book was definitely a page turner, I was a little disappointed in it. I would recommend it for maybe 12 or 13 years and up. Dang, I didn’t figure that out two hundred pages ago! This series is a brilliant series and one full of romance, paranormal subjects, betrayal, lies and trust. In fact, there are some really nice touches. View all 5 comments. Read all three books and it was well Yet on the whole this is the freshest, most compelling novel Kelley Armstrong’s written for quite some time, reinvigorating my passion for her books.
As her new friends’ stories unfold, Chloe begins to question the motivation behind Lyle House. It is a slow-paced tthe but drew me in and I could get back into it really easily, even though I read it over a couple of weeks, as I was unwell.
Not a lot but I expect things to get better on the next books. That’s why I don’t play the drums.
So, over all, I was quite underwhelmed with this book and I have absolutely no intention of reading the others. The author’s stepped her characterisation up to a new level. My parents figured it was my creative version of make-believe friends, inventing a whole cast of characters. It seems though, that all of my creative faculties summoningg been sucked away since I spent eighty percent of this book imagining what the story COULD have been. I didn’t find that she had much depth and she came across as a weak character.

The ending, while still a armtsrong, brings with it a chilling closure. They suck my soul into the book and make me turn into a reading zombie and just buy any book from that series so that I can see what the hell is going to happen in the next book.
