Elements of Fiction Writing – Scene & Structure
I would recommend to anyone wanting to write fiction. The first chapter presents a Setback: Build your story and your scenes step by step. All in all, I would suggest this book to any struggling and or new writer. Unlike the newer book, the prose is denser and a bit more difficult to digest, but as my friend had promised, this older version of scene-writing was filled with lots of examples where the concepts are broken down in detail, tagged, and scenne labeled as you try to put the concepts in the book into action.

I’d call that kind of book “action-oriented popular fiction” – basically a thriller or suspense novel. As always with books on writing, steal whatever works sccene you, ignore the rest.
How to Write Pulp Fiction. Most of jackk, it made me realize I need to quit fighting the system and just go with it. The Emotional Wound Thesaurus: Definitely one of the best writing books I’ve read.
Structuring Your Novel Workbook: Bickham says you should present the components in order, clearly spelled out to the reader, and then on finishing the Sequel, jump immediately into another Scene. I guess if one can get even one thing from a non-fiction read, it was worth reading.
It will be like taking a college course in scene-building. Bickham talks about how to construct a beat within a scene, and ultimately how to create scenes that have good forward momentum.
