I wasn’t aware that there was any indication that WotC actually considered Trapdoor as an investment dungeonsccape. The only drawback is having to manually enter info that’s not in the core rules but it’s worth it for the functionality.
I really hope that if they released PDF’s people would be honest and pay the damn company for doing something so awesome for them, but sadly I have already seen several requests in this sub about pirating the books or weird anti-corporation type crap where people want a great product for free but don’t feel the people that work hard to make it deserve dungeonscpe earn a living.
This allows apps like Combat Manager to existnot to mention the ton of phone apps with classes, spells, ect on them. Maybe wizards will actually release pdfs. I want there to be open source tools and also commercial ones that use wizard’s proprietary content, and to rely oce my personal license for that content, not theirs.
By all means, if I could have tested the iPad app, I would have. They were essentially bonus apps so that non-iOS users could also play.

Secondly, I don’t see how WotC is to blame for Trapdoor’s poor execution. As this dungeonsdape all a work of individuals, not companies because of the licensing, we’re not going to see much professional grade stuff, especially for 5e. Forget the plastic wrap then and just make it a lotto scratch off code.
No more waiting to borrow dungeobscape rule book to level up. So what do you do with all the books that contained printing errors smudged pages, upside-down pages, loose or detached bindings, improperly cropped pages, etc.
Why do they keep screwing up anything that has to do with digital tools? I’ve seen the web version, in which case, I’ll agree that was terrible. Sorry to disappoint you! Because those people bid what it would actually cost to make the software, instead of the lowest. Which is why I don’t understand any criticism of Wizards in this situation.

They didn’t invest in them at all. Obviously, the tools wouldn’t be allowed to provide full text, but let me have a character generator capable of making a bard with a full list of spells. No more worrying that Jim will lose his character sheet again and spend 30 minutes having to redo it.
Pathfinder’s digital support is beyond great because Paizo has no choice in the matter. Have you actually used pathguy? You just have to look at all their previous attempts at electronic tools to see it.
Or if there is, then that person doesn’t know that there should have been a functional prototype last spring. For a hell of a lot of users that didn’t have the forethought to have an iPad handy the experience with dungeonscape was pretty damn sub par. There’s a mobile app called d20 fight club that’s pretty inexpensive, and works a TON better than what this team was able to come up with.

We’re not sure why this happened either. In give or take a year while I was working at Wizards I was signed up to be a Microsoft usability tester. When the app wasn’t at least available as a public beta when 5E launched, the writing was on the wall.
Ignoring that, the app in it’s current state, well after the PHB has been released, is still garbage. He’s not called “pathguy” because of Pathfinder.
