Malus Darkblade by Dan Abnett is a great read. I’ve read quite a few novels with anti-heroes, but they’re difficult to get right; “I’m fine,” snarled Malus. Overall was a great book I’m excited to finish out the series with the next maluw.
And yet you still want him to win. While I detest Thorpe’s writing, the story tells how there came to be Dark Elves and High Elves, which helps to explain the “current” Warhammer world.

If you’re interesting in reading from a villain’s perspective, this is surely the series for you! Aug 08, Dimas added it. I love this novel. These books might not be the products of some grand literary ambition, but I loved them. This appeals to my love of being bad, LOL. The dark elves and their scheming and plotting had me blown away. Personally I find that a little generous. There are no discussion topics on this book yet.

A adventure who is not as easy as it’s looks like and horror that awaits them. I’m not very into reading about the “bad guys” and Malus along with the rest of the Dark Elves is violent, ruthless, masochistic, bloody, and pretty universally “bad.

Feb 25, Thundrull rated it it was amazing. We’re back in real life again. An anti-hero if there ever was one. Dark, treacherous, action packed. This is the first book in the Warhammer fantasy universe that I read and it was generally easy to understand.
Other books in the series. Every artifact has relevance to the plot and is rooted into, connected with, the places they are located.
Sometimes I can’t wait to turn the page, others the story drags on some. I’ve read quite a few novels with anti-heroes, but they’re difficult to get right; and Malus is downright loveable.

lf Since it is an Omnibus the stories took a logical approach and the movement made sense. Many of the races of fantasy correspond to those in 40k elder are high elves, dark elder are dark elves, orks are orcs, etc.
Although I struggled with Dan Abnett’s writing style it was an enjoyable story to read. Brings ddarkblade mind more Elric and less Drizzt, which is a plus in my opinion. Malus dark blade is a very thrilling twisting and turning book about a highborn Druchii dark elf who is confronted with a decision.
