The result is that Farland develops his characters more than might otherwise be possible in such a short period of time. Gaborn has managed to drive off Raj Ahten, but Ahten is far from defeated.

I was eager to continue the story of Gaborn and his world, but the novelty is already wearing thin.

The story is pretty engrossing–I really want to find out what happens. I wanted a bit more explanation and more of her reasoning.

After hearing news of a Reaver uprising, the group heads towards the walled city of Carris with haste. Wizardborn The Runelords, Book 3.

But Gaborn has fulfilled a two-thousand-year-old Volume Two of The Runelords Raj Ahtan, ruler of Indhopal, has used enough forcibles to transform himself into the ultimate warrior: The Seventh Book of The Runelords. He’s doing epic on an epic scale, but it makes you wonder if he’s gone too big too fast. Not sure if I’ll pick up the third. There is plenty of peril and fear, but emotion is lacking.

Books by David Farland. The more I think about this book, the less sure I am that I liked it. Not only does it have a lot of recapping and exposition but many of the storylines are unfinished at the end of the book. With the continued development of the characters and setting, and the addition of some great new elements to the story, this book seems to be where the series really takes off. I hope Farland can keep up the originality in the rest of the series. The Sum of All Men was an excellent book, original, exciting and an extremely rewarding read.

Obviously, the endowment system stands out as original, but I also like the elemental magics, which give the elements themselves personalities and desires.
