A must-read only if you’re really into Agamben. It is the first book that I truly loved and had time to finish in grad school. Paperback1st edition Theory Out of Bounds [20]pages. In The Opencontemporary Italian philosopher The end of human history is an event that has been foreseen or announced by both messianics and dialecticians. A friend of mine calls this sort of writing “intellectual masturbation”, and Agamhen can’t think of a more fitting description.


But some of the moves are more suggestive than argumentative, and as plausible as I find his views, meezzi won’t convince the critic or satisfy the curious.

I guess I just don’t ever see these sort of postmodern ideas ever manifesting themselves corporeally. This mix of the religious with science and philosophy in Agamben’s writing is fascinating to me. Indeed, it was often difficult to tease out the original philosophy from the explorations of others’.
